We’ve said it before, and we are sure we will say it again. Don’t tell the officials that they have no balls once they send you off! Technically you are probably incorrect anyway, and the only thing it gets you is an additional ban, as was the case of Málaga’s Jesús Gámez, who will have to sit out the next three games after doing just that following his second yellow card at Osasuna. Ah well, some people never learn! Another habitual “villain” on these pages is Levante’s David Navarro, and he saw red again (although maybe a little harshly) after bringing down Cristiano Ronaldo midway through the second half of the Sunday evening game in the Bernabeu.

The ex Valencia defender will be suspended for next weekend’s games, together with another ten players who completed the five yellow card cycle, including Saúl Ñíguez (Rayo) and Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), who both picked up their tenth bookings of the season, and Miranda and Mario Suárez (Atlético), Brahimi and Recio (Granada), Darder (Málaga), Mathieu and Alcácer (Valencia), and Peña (Valladolid), who were all given their fifth. Ramos in particular had been trying for that yellow card which means he will be back in time for the “clásico” against Barcelona in a fortnight’s time! (12.03.14)
