Three red cards this weekend, all for second bookable offences. Deportivo’s Postiga was the first of those, both coming in the first half hour of the Friday night match at Córdoba, although the Portuguese striker felt hard done by as the first was for a rigorous penalty, and the second for a light retaliatory push on Iñigo López after the defender trampled all over him. Depor will probably appeal at least one of those bookings. Elsewhere Eibar’s Raúl Navas picked up his second yellow card late on at Málaga after giving away a penalty for hand ball, and Atlético’s Siqueira was shown two cards in as many minutes at the beginning of the second half in the match against Real Sociedad, his side eventually falling to a 2-1 defeat against the Basque side. All three will (subject to appeal) serve out a one match ban when hostilities recommence in two weeks’ time, and they will be joined on the sidelines by three other players who picked up their fifth cautions of the season, Thomas (Almería), Mario Suárez (Atlético), and Lillo (Eibar). PS Postiga's second yellow card was cancelled on appeal, and his one match ban was lifted.
