Five red cards in the midweek round of games, including one each for Deportivo’s physical trainer and Levante’s medical assistant for protesting. Depor’s Luisinho and Granada’s Murillo were both given their marching orders for second bookable offences in their respective games, and Valencia’s Otamendi was shown a straight red for a high tackle on Athletic’s San José near the end of their Thursday night match. All will sit out the weekend fixtures together with ten players who completed the five yellow card cycle, including James, Kroos and Ronaldo from Real Madrid, as well as Aduríz (Athletic), Pablo Hernández and Radoja (both Celta), Crespo (Córdoba), Bóveda (Elche), Escudero (Getafe) and Juanfran (Levante). Aduríz was in fact given his tenth booking, all the others their fifth. (10.04.15)

PS. As expected, Ronaldo was let off his yellow card, and he will be available for the weekend game. Otamendi’s ban stays though after Valencia’s appeal was turned down.

(* suspension pending disciplinary meeting decision)
