Three red cards this weekend, the first for Celta’s young keeper Rubén Blanco for giving away a penalty on Málaga’s Amrabat on Saturday evening. The following day Sevilla’s Rami got his marching orders after picking up two bookings late on against Granada, and later in the evening Real Madrid’s Kovacic was shown a straight red for a hard tackle on Valencia’s Cancelo midway through the second half of their match. All will miss next weekend’s games together with five other players who reached the five yellow card threshold, Alvaro (Espanyol), Amrabat and Charles (both Málaga), Diego Llorente (Rayo) and Bergara (Real Sociedad). (05.01.16)

PS. Bergara and Rami were both let off one of their yellow cards on appeal. The Real Sociedad midfielder will therefore be able to play next weekend, but the Sevilla defender will still be banned, as the other yellow card he picked up will count as his fifth in the current cycle. (07.01.16)
