Only one red card on the field of play this weekend, Granada’s Isaac Success getting his marching orders for a second bookable offence with twenty minutes to go in the relegation battle with Rayo. That probably cost his side two points, as the visitors took advantage of their numerical superiority to equalize later on. Villarreal coach Marcelino was also sent to the stands though (for the second time this season) following his heated protests midway through the first half of the match against Barcelona. He did have a bit of a point (see also our “White Stick” section) as Piqué should clearly have been given a second booking for hand ball, but maybe he should have been more polite about it?!? That’s not his style though! Another seven players will join them both on the sidelines when battle recommences after the international break, including Simao (Levante), who picked up his tenth booking of the season, and Iván Ramis and Adrián González (both Eibar), Zé Castro and Embarba (both Rayo), Jorge Meré (Sporting) and Mario (Villarreal), who were all given their fifth.
