Osasuna’s new boy Rivière threw a bit of a wobbly on Friday night in the match at Betis, the French striker getting sent off for kicking out viciously at Brasanac after the midfielder pulled him back by the shirt near the end of the ninety minutes. Only two other red cards later in the weekend, Espanyol’s Caicedo upsetting his manager Quique Sánchez Flores by getting his marching orders for a second bookable offence just as his side were making a comeback against Eibar. Luckily for him they managed to equalize without him. The third red card of the weekend was for Atlético’s Koke, who was given two bookings in Sunday’s game at Sevilla, the first time that the Spanish international has been sent off in his career. All will be joined on the sidelines next weekend by Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal, who conveniently picked up a fifth yellow card of the season near the end of the game against Athletic Bilbao. He will miss Madrid’s match at Alavés, but will then have a clean slate for more important fixtures later in the year. (25.10.16)

PS. Rivière has been banned for two games, and the disciplinary committe also fined Valencia for their crowd trouble (see "White Stick" section). They did though add a comment criticising the Barcelona players' play-acting in the bottle throwing incident, and that has further upset the club, who said they would be making a complaint to Superior Sporting Tribunal.
