Five red cards this weekend, including one each for Alavés coach Mauricio Pellegrino and his assistant Carlos Compagnucci for protesting in the match against Real Madrid on Saturday. Atlético’s Savic and Málaga’s Chory Castro were both given their marching orders for second bookable offences in their game later in the evening, and Celta’s Sergi Gómez was also sent off after being shown a second yellow card after giving away a penalty against Las Palmas on Sunday. Gómez was in fact only just returning to the side after serving out a one match ban from two weeks’ ago! All will miss next weekend’s fixtures together with five players who reached the five yellow card threshold, including Deyverson (Alavés), Hugo Mallo (Celta), Albentosa (Deportivo), Iñigo Martínez (Real Sociedad), Mercado (Sevilla) and Enzo Pérez (Valencia). (01.11.16)

PS Both Chory Castro and Savic were let off one of their bookings on appeal, and they therefore have had their one match suspensions cancelled. Pellegrino and Compagnucci were given two match bans however.

(* suspension pending disciplinary meeting decision)
