Real Sociedad felt that Sánchez Martínez was a bit over the top when he sent off Aritz Elustondo midway through the first half of Saturday’s derby game at Eibar. The young defender had virtually no time to react when Bebé steered a header towards goal, the ball hitting his arm from point blank range. Given that, and the new ruling on penalties, it should probably only have been a yellow card at most. As it happened Pedro León missed the spot kick, but Eibar still went on to win 2-0. A bit of controversy at Leganés the following day as well, the locals feeling that Fernández Borbolán should have halted play when Serantes was injured in a clash with Rodrigo. He didn’t though, and Nani picked up the rebound to score. (28.09.16)
