Only three weeks to go to the end of the season, but it was fairly calm once again on the refereeing front. There were some doubts as to whether the goals by Neymar, Bakambu and James were offside or not, but Sánchez Martínez in the first two cases, and Iglesias Villanueva in the third, allowed them to stand, and both games ended with big wins for Barcelona and Real Madrid. Fernández Borbalán and his team were told to go to “Specsavers” (or whatever the Spanish equivalent is) by Atlético’s Godín, and Del Cerro Grande had to sort out a few swinging handbags between Málaga and Celta’s players and staff (see “Villains” section for more on those two stories), but in the end the weekend panned out without any untoward incidents by our men-in-black.
