Poor old Fuenlabrada had enough problems facing up to their mighty neighbours Real Madrid in Thursday’s cup games without Iglesias Villanueva stepping in to give Zidane’s team a helping hand! The referee awarded the visitors two hotly disputed penalties in the second half, the first when Achraf was pulled down by Fran García as he entered the area (in or out??), and the second when Theo fell under a challenge by Candela, who was given a second yellow card and consequently a red for his pains!
Málaga fans organised a black-card protest before the match against Celta after some recent poor refereeing decisions, the most recent of which being Barça’s opener against them last week (see last week’s report). However this time they were favoured by Jaime Latre, the referee ruling out a strike by Iago Aspas for a borderline offside, and then awarding the Andalusians a late penalty after the ball hit Cabral on the arm in the area. It all comes out in the wash we suppose! (01.11.17)
