The refereeing controversy this week was not in La Liga (for once), but came in the Champions League quarter final tie between Real Madrid and Juventus, English referee Michael Oliver awarding a questionable injury time penalty to Real Madrid with the tie level on aggregate at 3-3. Visiting keeper Buffon was sent off for protesting, and Ronaldo slotted the spot kick past his replacement to take Madrid into the semi-finals once again. Was it a penalty by Benatia on Lucas Vázquez? Punters were split fairly much 50/50 but, as can be expected, it was a talking point for the whole of the following week over here! (16.04.18)
