It would almost have been shorter this weekend to list the keepers who didn’t manage to clock up clean sheets, with no less than four games ending without goals! They were as follows (goalies in brackets): Córdoba (Juan Carlos) v Deportivo (Fabricio); Getafe (Guaita) v Elche (Tyton); Celta (Sergio Alvarez) v Granada (Roberto); Valencia (Diego Alves) v Athletic Bilbao (Iraizoz). All the remaining teams scored at least one though, with one match producing six goals, Real Madrid beating neighbours Rayo Vallecano 5-1. As it happened the two coaches both changed their keepers, Ancelotti giving another run-out to Keylor Navas in place of Casillas, and Paco Jémez bringing back Cristian Alvarez after Toño picked up an injury last week. Alvarez himself was only just returning from injury, and after letting in a “manita” he probably wished it had taken him a few more days to recover! (10.11.14)
