Bad news for Villarreal, Sergio Asenjo picking up a serious knee injury near the end of the Wednesday night game against Atlético which could keep him out for up to six months. Asenjo had been called up recently by Del Bosque for Spain’s latest international matches. Juan Carlos Sánchez came on to replace him, and he will presumably play the remaining games. Elsewhere there were six clean sheets in the midweek round of games, including one for our leader Bravo in a 6-0 win over Guaita’s Getafe, and others for Diego Mariño (Levante), Keylor Navas (Real Madrid), Sergio Alvarez (Celta), Oblak (Atlético) and Tyton (Elche). Navas was the only goalkeeping change to the week 34 starting line-ups, the Costa Rican number one given a run out by Ancelotti in order to to rest Iker Casillas for the important upcoming fixtures.
