Spain completed the formalities on Monday night, a 0-1 victory against Israel making it nine wins and a draw from their ten group games. Already sure of top spot after the match against Albania, Lopetegui used the occasion to give a run out to the rest of his squad, team captain Sergio Ramos the only one to repeat from that tie, and Busquets winning his 100 th cap. The locals put out a defensive line-up though, and Harush only had to make a couple of saves from Ramos and Pedro before the break. Ex Mallorca striker Hemed went close at the other end either side of half time, but with a quarter of an hour to go Illarramendi volleyed in the only goal following Asensio’s corner to give his team the three points.
